The scenes depict large numbers of participants, reportedly comprising a thousand men, five guns and 34 horses, who carried out a mock battle against a defending force of around six hundred men. The photographs, both by E. Hawkins & Co. of Brighton, measure approx. 11.5”x9.5”, laid to official photographer’
